Tarot cards have been used for centuries. Every card in the tarot deck has a meaning associated with it. The meanings and symbols used in the tarot deck can be traced back to thousands of years to probably as early as 600 A.D. The priests of the Christian church during this period had small memo cards with symbols on them. These cards were used for remembering things and also the symbols on the cards were used to represent different things or events. The use of such cards was also made by gypsies. Even the Egyptians used tablets that had pictures on them. These concepts are the basis of the modern day tarot card deck.

Tarot cards, especially the modern ones have been modified or revised by the Order of the Golden Dawn. These cards can be used by mystics, magicians and occults. These cards are used for the purpose of casting spells and even predict the future of people who choose the tarot readers for making a reading for them.

Each of the cards in the deck has a different meaning which signifies some aspect of human life. The cards together can be used to represent what is called the “wheel of life”. Also these cards are based on the principle that all living forms are connected with the various energies that are present in the universe. So, all living forms in effect are influenced by these energies in either a positive or a negative manner. Though the meaning of all cards in a variety of decks is the same, but these may still be interpreted in a different manner depending upon the situation.
